Jr Mechanical Engineer
​​Roles & Responsibilities
-
Analyse problems and/or deficiencies; thereafter, conceptualise, plan and develop mechanical solutions and designs for new product
-
Perform engineering calculations and equipment sizing to support design work
-
Research of cutting-edge robotic technologies and conceptualise new robotic products based on new technologies and market needs
-
Develop robotic systems including sub-component selections and electrical interface designs using model-based development (MBD) methodology
-
Create & review technical drawings, plans, and specifications of components & systems using computer-aided software for machining / fabrication / manufacturing
-
Conduct FEA study to optimise the structural performance of components & systems
-
Conduct experiments and evaluations to improve and innovate product designs
-
Conduct tolerance stack analysis to ensure the component tolerances satisfy precision system performance
-
Release fabrication drawings, BOMs, and other production/technical documentation
-
Design benchmark test setups and processes; plan and perform testing for new products
-
Produce working prototypes (hands-on assembly) for testing and demonstration
-
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and work with vendors and contractors (including fabrication houses)

Produce detailed documentation to track project development and design process
-
Manage project progress and ensure the project timeline is met within budget
Requirements

Requirement & Qualification:
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree, preferably, in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics, or any other relevant fields of study
-
Minimal 3 years of relevant working experience
-
Firm grasp of engineering concepts with experience designing mechanical and robotic systems
-
Excellent mathematics skills: and ability to apply advanced mathematical principles and statistics to solve problems
-
Excellent mechanical design experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar (MATLAB and Simulink will be a plus).

Familiar with different manufacturing and production techniques, such as, machining, milling, CNC, sheet metal bending, molding, etc.

Good knowledge in properties of engineering materials and their applications

Excellent knowledge of sensors, actuators, pneumatics, motors, direct-drives, bearings, gearboxes and other mechanical components
-
Always comply with industrial standards, proper engineering practices

Exceptional technical, problem-solving, and reasoning skills
-
Self-motivated, able to work individually as well as a great team player
-
Able to adapt to the fast-paced environment and handle tight timelines at work
-
Good communication and interpersonal skills with people at all levels, internally and externally, and in a professional and responsible manner
